Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco, a Canadian-American singer and songwriter. Over 20 albums have been released by her. The music of DiFranco has been described as folk and alternative rock but also has influences from punk funk hip beat and jazz. Widely considered a feminist icon Grammy award winner Ani DiFranco was the founder of the DIY movement, and was among the first artists to create her own label the year 1990. DiFranco was born in Buffalo New York on September 23rd, 1970. She was her parents Elizabeth (Ross) and Dante Americo DiFranco The couple had met while attending in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father was of Italian heritage and her mother was a Montreal native. Ani Difrasco wrote and recorded the song "32 Flavors". The song was featured on her fifth studio album Not a Pretty Girl which was released in 1995. The song's version can be heard in the film Canadian romantic film Better Than Chocolate. DiFranco made an apology public in 2013, after it emerged that she had planned a three-day seminar at an Louisiana plantation. The majority of us (including us) did not feel impressed by her decision. DiFranco released an apology a couple of weeks following.
